Position Summary
We are looking for an Experienced Slit Line Operator to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot slitting equipment used in the processing of metal coils. This role is critical to ensuring the safe and efficient production of precision-cut metal used in our roofing and siding products. The ideal candidate will have previous metal coil processing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor slit line equipment to process metal coils to specified widths and tolerances.
- Perform coil loading, threading, slitting, and recoiling operations in a safe and efficient manner.
- Inspect incoming coils and finished slit coils for defects, accuracy, and quality standards.
- Adjust machine settings based on material specifications and production requirements.
- Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on slit line equipment.
- Maintain accurate production records, coil tags, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Work closely with production, maintenance, and quality assurance teams to meet daily output goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience operating a slit line or similar coil-processing equipment (metal industry preferred).
- Strong understanding of coil handling, slitting operations, and recoiling processes.
- Ability to read and interpret production orders, measurements, and material specifications.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and resolve machine issues.
- Forklift experience preferred; certification a plus.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for long periods.
- Strong attention to detail, safety-first mindset, and reliable work ethic.
- Willingness to work overtime or shift adjustments as needed.
