Atlas Fibre, located in Northbrook, IL, is currently seeking an experienced Production Support Engineer to join our dynamic team to promote scalable growth. The role will play a key role in improving production processes, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and supporting day-to-day operations on the shop floor. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, hands-on experience with CNC programming, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and process optimization to ensure smooth production performance.

**Responsibilities:

**

• Advise on manufacturability with your understanding of machining methods to match our selection of equipment and applications.

• Leverage your expertise in GD&T and inspection principles to analyze drawings, CAD data, parts lists, and other technical specifications to properly determine the scope of work and ensure that parts meet specified tolerances.

• Thrive in our fast-paced manufacturing environment, displaying your adaptability to changing priorities, meeting tight deadlines, and consistently delivering high-quality work.

• Foster a positive team environment by effectively communicating with operators, engineers, and team members, while collectively addressing challenges and optimizing processes.

• Utilize your familiarity of modern manufacturing processes to enhance production efficiency and operational effectiveness.

• Provide daily engineering support to operations, ensuring efficient workflow and minimal downtime.

• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for various machining centers to improve cycle times, quality, and consistency.

• Analyze and improve manufacturing processes through data-driven methods, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and production teams to resolve process and equipment issues.

• Design and implement jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve productivity and quality.

• Maintain accurate process documentation, work instructions, and CNC setup sheets.

• Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing and validating manufacturing processes.

**Requirements:

**

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering software. Preferably MasterCam, SolidWorks, and Vericut.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in machining or fabrication.

• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and root cause analysis.

• Practical experience with composite laminate materials and exotic plastics is highly preferred.

• Solid grasp of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and demonstrated ability to apply them to precision machining.

• Experience in machine tool measurements to ensure a higher level of accuracy in cutting applications. Renishaw preferred.

• Capacity to excel in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, effectively managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to maintain a steadfast commitment to consistently producing top-quality work.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering (or equivalent experience).

• Experience in CNC programming (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, or similar control systems) required.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
