Job Description

The Machinist position at WTC offers a wide range of operations as we are a job shop. The parts range from small, single drill operations, to multi-set operations. Experience with both CNC Lathe and Mill machines. WTC is a custom tooling and machining manufacturer who supplies customers all over the world. Looking for someone who is driven to be safe and efficient while interested in providing feedback to make the processes better.

Hours are M-F from 6:30am to 2:30pm.

Summary:
The Machinist is responsible for the manufacture of parts per plant specifications in an accurate and timely manner utilizing manual and CNC machine centers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Set up; program and operate CNC machine centers
  2. Ability to measure parts for accuracy
  3. Quality inspection
  4. Efficient work
  5. Assist in the decision-making process of future machine and tooling purchases
  6. Maintenance and repair of machines.
  7. Advise potential machine problems.
  8. Clean work area.

Education and/or Experience

  • Must be able to program from new and edit existing programs.
  • Mill and Lathe experience
  • CADCAM or similar experience a plus
  • 5-7 years of machinist experience.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform geometric algebraic and trigonometric calculations.
  • Must perform conversions.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications and routings.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to walk, use foot/feet to operate machine, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach above shoulders and move from place to place. The incumbent will regularly stand, sit and talk and listen and will frequently use hands to finger, handle or touch. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
During the performance of his/her work duties, the incumbent will be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds such as moving parts from material storage and moving parts in and out of work area.

The employee works in a factory environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. He/she is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
