Location: Woodinville, WA
Shift: 6 AM - 2:30 PM, M-F or 3 PM - 2:15 PM, M-Th
Pay: $26-37/hr, DOE
Job Description
The Machinist operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. This role involves interpreting blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications, using various machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments, and making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds. Additionally, the Machinist measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining, fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment, and may monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in research and development processes.
- Observe and implement Lean Manufacturing methods in all job assignments.
- Maintain spindle turning to maximum at all times.
- Ensure parts and tools are loaded correctly and maintain consistent quality throughout the assignment.
- Change and adjust cutters under supervision as instructed.
- Learn and adhere to University Swaging policies and procedures, particularly BQMS standards directly related to the work center.
- Coordinate with operations to improve productivity of the work center.
- Navigate Okuma/Fanuc control interfaces.
- Be flexible for cross-training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of machining experience.
- Familiarity with multiple spindle operations (upper/lower turret).
- Understanding of CNC type machines and their processes, such as set-ups, monitoring, and change-outs.
- Advanced knowledge of the turn process, able to run, and assist programming in proving out programs.
- Blueprint reading and GD&T math skills.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Ability to read, follow, and interpret work instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 2-year machining certificate preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with multi-channel lathe or ability to demonstrate aptitude.
- Knowledge of general machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools.
- Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others.
- Attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $37.00/hr.
