Job Description

In this role you will be responsible for electrical engineering design tasks under supervision, contributing to building systems design using BIM tools (including Revit), performing calculations, creating specifications and drawings, collaborating with architects, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines, and supporting project delivery from schematic through construction documents. You will also assist with coordination, quality control, construction phase support, and may eventually take increasing responsibility for project leadership as you grow.


Key Responsibilities

    • Develop electrical systems design including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, grounding/bonding, life safety circuits, etc.
    • Produce drawings using Revit (and related BIM coordination) and contribute to model updates and revisions.
    • Perform load calculations, voltage drop, short-circuit/coordination study input, lighting design and energy compliance work.
    • Generate and prepare specifications, design narratives, and engineering memos.
    • Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical/plumbing/structural disciplines, architects and other stakeholders.
    • Participate in design review meetings, respond to RFI’s, coordinate redlines and mark-ups, assist in construction administration.
    • Ensure code compliance (NFPA, NEC, local jurisdiction requirements) as well as firm quality standards.
    • Assist senior engineers in mentoring junior staff or interns as required.
    • Maintain project documentation, meet schedule milestones, and support the project team in delivering on scope/budget.
    • Stay current with Revit software updates, BIM workflow best practices, and electrical engineering trends.

Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
    • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in electrical engineering design in the building/MEP industry.
    • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit (electrical discipline) – ability to create and edit Revit models and coordinate with others in BIM environment.
    • Experience with electrical design tasks such as power distribution, lighting, grounding, emergency systems.
    • Strong understanding of electrical codes (NEC, NFPA) and building systems fundamentals.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of working collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to manage tasks under supervision and meet deadlines.
    • Willingness to learn, grow in responsibility and support a variety of project types (commercial, institutional, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working on multiple project types including hospitality, education, historic preservation or large scale commercial/institutional.
    • Familiarity with sustainable design practices and energy efficient systems (since the firm emphasizes sustainable design). Moses Engineers
    • Experience coordinating in a multi-discipline consulting engineering firm environment.
    • Familiarity with construction administration phases, including review of shop drawings, site visits, and coordination during construction.
    • LEED accreditation or interest in green building design.
