Role Synopsis

Set up and conduct tests of high pressure, high performance hydraulic control valves, regulators, and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving product performance and to obtain data for development or design validation.

  • Confer with engineers or other personnel in the creation and implementation of FAT test and assembly procedures as well as investigate and participate in problem solving a valves malfunction
  • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear
  • Record test results per test procedure using numerical and graphical data
  • Ensure test schedules are attained while meeting safety objectives
  • Be an effective interface between Engineering and Assembly
  • Secure the project test package from Engineering and verifies that all procedures, drawings and approvals necessary for the test are in place
  • Review the test schedules and ensure that all tools and materials necessary to meet the schedules are on hand prior to the test start dates
  • Coordinate and participate in the installation of product on test equipment or into test fixtures, connecting valves, pumps, hydraulic, mechanical or electrical controls, cabling, tubing, power source, and indicating instruments
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities
  • Give and welcome feedback and exhibit objectivity and openness to others' views
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit by putting the success of team above individual interests and supporting everyone's efforts to succeed
  • Perform other work-related tasks, as assigned.

Qualifications/Work Experience

Education

Essential

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred

  • Associate's degree in mechanical technology

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum five years of product assembly, testing, and troubleshooting within the high pressure hydraulic valve market
  • Experience influencing the development and implementation of assembly and test procedures, equipment manuals, and/or documentation associated with product assembly and testing
  • Experience assembling the qualification test circuits required for product testing in a laboratory setting
  • Effective at troubleshooting, root cause analysis and problem solving techniques
  • Familiarity with Excel, Word, Outlook and LabVIEW
  • Work well within a close-knit team environment is critical
  • Self starter and able to work with little supervision
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and P&IDs
  • Comprehend and build Test Setups based on Test Circuit Schematics
  • Possess a strong Mechanical Aptitude
  • Familiar with piping and Instrumentation tubing
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and/or overtime if required


Preferred

  • Experience operating DAQ systems
  • Experience with BOP control valve and/or downhole valve qualification testing experience
  • Possess or ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential card
  • Possess or ability to obtain Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training inclusive of Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)

  • Physical Dexterity required; ability to ascend/descend ladders; ability to stand, walk, bend, sit, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and move objects for 8 to 12 hours per day.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Speak/hear and use specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Capability of properly using standard office equipment including a computer with a keyboard.
  • Ability to wear and utilize Personal Protective Safety Equipment (PPE). Required equipment includes steel toed shoes, safety glasses/goggles. Additional PPE may be required, e.g., safety harnesses, Fire Retardant Clothing (FRC), hard hats, or other as assigned.

  • Travel to onshore/offshore environments may be required. Employee may be required to stay remote onshore/offshore for extended periods.
  • Work conditions will vary and may include working up to twelve (12) hours per day or more in environments with exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
