A Day in the Role

You arrive to a clean, organized workstation, review your traveler and blueprints, and begin setting up the punch press for the first run. Throughout your shift, you:

  • Configure and operate punch equipment to produce precise parts that meet exacting specs.
  • Continuously observe machine performance, adjusting feeds, tools, and parameters to maintain quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical or process issues to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect outputs with a critical eye, identify defects, and correct variances on the spot.
  • Keep your area spotless and safe, following established safety practices at all times.
  • Coordinate with teammates to improve processes, throughput, and overall efficiency.
  • Record production metrics and promptly escalate concerns to your supervisor.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; machinist or technical training is a plus.
  • Experience in punch press operations or a related manufacturing position preferred.
  • Sharp attention to detail and the discipline to follow precise work instructions.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting know-how.
  • Comfort working both independently and with a team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Clear communication skills and a can-do outlook.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours/overtime when production needs arise.

Skills You’re Confident In

  • Equipment troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
  • General and mechanical troubleshooting
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification (OSHA 10)
  • Setting up machines for production runs
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints

Tools & Technologies You’ll Use

  • CNC Lathe (2–4 axis)
  • Press Brake
